Which Nextion?
The 3.5″ Nextion (480 x 320 px) is nice, but if your enclosure has room, the larger 5.0″ (800 x 480 px) offers more pixels to play with, which means bigger buttons, larger fonts (easier to read). From an EMC perspective, the 5.0″ is rather noisy due to it’s higher backlighting current requirements and PWM backlight control.
3.2″ Nextion is only slightly physically smaller than the 3.5″ but has significantly less pixels (400 x 240 px) and this limits screen space to play with.

Programming your Nextion enhanced touchscreen using .hmi:
• Unzip .hmi file to your Nextion Editor project directory
• Connect Nextion to PC via USB-FTDI adapter
• Run Nextion Editor
• Open .hmi file
• From Device tab > Device
Set device type to match the .hmi file (NX8048K050_011 or NX4832K035_011)
• OK
• From Device tab > Display
Set 90° Horizontal display direction
• OK
• Upload
Programming your Nextion enhanced touchscreen using .tft:
Unfamiliar with the microSD card requirements?
MUST read: https://nextion.tech/faq-items/using-nextion-microsd/
• Unzip .tft file to a microSD card (FAT32, max 16GB)
• Power down Nextion
• Insert card
• Power up Nextion
• Nextion should start programming
• Power down Nextion after “succeeded” message confirms completion
• Remove card
