Replacing the factory-fitted SO-239 with an N connector on an Icom IC-9700 144 MHz antenna socket. is quick and easy.
You don’t even need to take the covers off the radio!
The only tool that is required is a #2 (medium size) JIS screwdriver.
JIS screwdrivers should be used instead of Philips on all Japanese equipment.
N socket is an Amphenol 172323 N connector obtained from Mouser Electronics: https://au.mouser.com
Unscrew the SO-239, pull it out, and replace with N connector, making sure the inner pin locates within the “C” clamp.
