Earlier this week, a brief path was discovered between VK4TVL Townsville and W8AC in Ohio. The 16th at 2206 UTC, which is about 3 hours before sundown in Ohio. Well done to both, that was pretty awesome
VK4TVL - 20W to a J-pole
W8AC - 5 Element yagi
Some comments from Lloyd VK4TVL -
All looked quiet this morning on 6m ..But what a surprise ..East coast USA ....

And from Jim W8AC -
This is great Lloyd. Two months ago I put up a 5 element yagi and aimed it at VK land. I was planning to run it
for 4 months just to see if I could hear Australia, which in my 50+ years in ham radio I never
have on 6M.

The challenge is how to exploit this excellent research and turn it into two-way QSO's. Surely contact via JT65 would be possible?

Some good news on the WSPR main page from JH1GYE -
Japanese 6m Band Plan
In Japan, 6m band plan will be changed from January 5.
Narrow band data communication will be OK between 50.2 and 51.0MHz.
So transmission of WSPR on 50.293 from Japan will be legal. Will hopefully see a few more JA's providing from transmissions.

What a brilliant day we all had on 6m WSPR today
Mostly in the morning till mid afternoon.
Some double hop Es and also some very short Es into the 500 km zone with +dB readings. No 2m paths were noticed.
Afternoon TEP also came in with numerous JA's.

iv only just started playing around with WSPR but it seems for 6m alot of people (within VK) are RX only this isnt going to test the propagation very well if everyone is listening and no 1 is transmitting. its the same old case of "iv been listening all day but the band is dead" yet made no attempt to call CQ.
Anyway, just my view for the last few days.
Ill be keeping my one on 6m as often as i can.

Hi Jono,
Something weird has been goin on with the WSPR net site the past few days which may have made some put their programs to RX only as there was no results to view on the site.
Personally I cant really TX at present as the SWR on my antenna is a bit too high, plus its a bit to hot inside the shack during the day, but I can still offer my station to provide reports, which anyone can view online. I'm thankful that there are at least people with their stations on and listening and able to provide reports as they could just as easily switch them offline completely and we'd have nothing.

Was advised by Victor HS0ZKM in Thailand, that he was able to hear signals from VK4TVL on 6m WSPR yesterday.
Victor is only using a longwire antenna, VK4TVL a J-pole.
