VK7RAE Beacons

Post by VK7JG »

The 6 and 2M beacons have been replaced with GPS Locked transmitters.
The 144.474 has had a 3dB power increase and will ID every 5 minutes .
Thanks to David VK3HZ for the construction of the Exciters . Rex VK7MO supplying the GPS receiver
NTARC paid for the Exciters . Joe VK7JG construction and installation . Peter VK7PL supplied the 19 inch Philips rack and PA components .

To calibrate your rig using Spectrum Lab.

Tune your receiver 1Khz low in frequency and you should have exactly 1Khz demodulated .

Unfortunately the GPS receiver has gone out of lock . It will require a visit to the site to rectify the problem . It will be fixed this week and I also hope to fit a UPS to overcome the problem.

Beacons back on frequency.
Unfortunately the GPS unit developed a S/C across the 15V rail to ground . Have replaced the unit and it is now functioning as designed.
