South and Central America Beacon info

Post by ZL1RS »

A recent update on South and Central America + Galapagos Island 6M Beacons.

The beacons that I think will be best for you and that I know are active are the following:

50008 XE2HWB La Paz, Baja Ca
50015.7 XE2K Mexicali....I doubt it will propagate well into your area cuz of mountains
50030 CE3AA reported as 50W
50035 HC8GR I has chirp 1kHz wide making it very difficult to hear when it is weak
and I hear the center freq more like 50034
50036 OA4B the beacon at my house in Lima..15 W horiz omni with T/O over water
50081 TI2NA this bcn has been upgraded to 50W and put on a hill..it gets out well

I just programmed a new bug for the XE2D bcn that was the XE2ED bcn. It is 15-20W into a vertical close to the water south of Ensenada I am not sure when Roman will re-install the bcn.

The old favorite XE1KK was stolen or missing...he has found a replacement bcn but has not installed it anywhere yet.

The CE music on 47.9 and 48.3 are also good ones to listen for.

Additional snippet of info from Warwick: The boat carrying the 7 element YU7EF 6M yagi I built for him should leave Rarotonga for Penrhyn on Wednesday 16 Dec ... but the boat was also supposed to leave at 16:00 sharp on the 10th

Have added OA, LU & CE 6M beacons to the VK Logger Beacon database this morning, as well as a new "SA" search filter.

Don't forget, Chilean elevator music on 48.300MHz WFM.
Leading horses to water since 2005.
