Broad FM on 50.175 to 180

Post by VK3OP »

Has any one else encountered this.
In the tuning and listening for E51 today I have heard a very weak broad FM signal like a wireless audio link or the like which had some sort of program material on it.
It seems to switch on and off quite abruptly, or has quite an amount of "gating". It sounds very similar to the LIPD type wireless links on 70cm.

Any Ideas ??

A bit more info, the signal is now stronger and seems to be centred on 50.190, definately some sort of program audio.
There seems to be a constant low level video carrier on 45.190. 5mHz split AV sender ???

I think you have already compared it to the local broadcasts.

I've once heard a weak, FM and AM modulated music signal
drifting around 50.24MHz several years ago.
It was from my father's CD/DVD player.

I heard a digital signal around 50.3MHz a few times
and also an AM broadcast or something on 50.110MHz a few times.
They have some QSB so I think they come from Russia, China or DPRK.

I have noticed many times broad FM on different frequencies: 50.025; 50.050, 50120, 50.175 etc.
They show up when the C1 video's are getting really strong. Also heard Chinese talking, Viethnamese language, and (sporadically) what seems to be Russian taxi drivers. Hard to tell what you really hear.
