Thanks for that, although a little low from Sydney - just 19deg.
Good luck with the contact, and will be listening.

Thanks Rob.
Good luck on receiving the signals. Unfortunately I think the contact may be in Dutch.

Hi Shane,
Very strong signals here in QF56IF. S9+20dB on the 4 elements of my home built handheld crossed satellite yagi. Max elevation here was 19.6deg. Audible at AOS from about 4' and to LOS right down to the horizon.
How much power are they running up there, do you know?

Well done..
I heard it here in VK7. I just used a Diamond X-50 vertical and the signal report was I received the whole down link transmission at 5/9 +40db on peak.

I got one side of the conversation at s3-5 here in Sydney using a vertical.
But why only one side?

Re: ISS - ARISS voice activity Monday night.
Hi Adrian.
If you were listening on 145.800MHz this was the downink frequency from the ISS and VK4KHZ was using a 70cm uplink frequency to the ISS.

Re: ISS - ARISS voice activity Monday night.
Matt
I am pleased your portable gear worked well!
In answer to your question the ISS is currently using the Kenwood TMD700A set at 10 watts output. The Motorola was taken out of service a couple of years ago after it developed an intermittent TX fault. From what I am told the TMD700 is not an easy radio to configure and this is perhaps why some of the astronaut hams are often reluctant to "play radio".
The uplink and downlink frequencies are usually in-band for ARISS contacts. The x-band repeater is not used for ARISS contacts.
