Beacon Database

Post by VK3HZ »

Most of you are no doubt aware of the Beacon Database on the VK/ZL Propagation Logger site.

It's probably timely to remind people that this database is the only up-to-date source of beacon information for VK. However, it's only as good as the information it contains. Therefore, beacon owners, users and listeners should all do their best to keep this information current by:

- updating the operational status if there is a change. If your beacon is not shown in the general listing, it probably does have an entry in the database and a search on the callsign should find it. It will re-appear after the update.

- reporting the ACTUAL frequency of the beacon in a SPOT report. Many people simply report the nominal frequency, which is of little use to someone 100's of kms away looking for it with Spectran.

Regards,
Dave
