CAUTION - 2metre yagi's on ebay

Post by VK5PJ »

There has been a recent spate of 15 element "long boom" "high gain" yagi's for 144 MHz advertised on ebay.
The picture in the add is of a cushcraft BOOMER but sadly the antenna is not fit to be in the same league as the boomer.
These antennas are in fact made by AZDEN in japan and are the most shoddy things I have ever seen. I had thought AZDEN made better equipment than this...
How do I know... well I bought one of the smaller 8 element yagis some time ago for field day use ... from the same seller ... the elements do not even come close to being in a straight line... and the element fixing hardware is 2mm mild steel screws, which rusted in the first week of use.

Buyer beware.... do not expect to receive a yagi to be proud of if you buy one. This is not a grudge posting... I paid peanuts for the antenna to quickly get me out for a field day trip so I indeed got what I paid for  .
