VK3RRU 2m Beacon

The 2m beacon has been off-air for a while so yesterday i attended the site to check the 70cm repeater and grabbed the beacon while i was there. Back on the bench the laptop said it it had a fault of no exciter power, lucky i have some spares so a new exciter and drop the freq, by 1Hz and it's back up and running on test. It's an ex EAS paging transmitter with an Arduino keyer, currently using a Rubidium standard for the 10MHz reference until it goes back out to the site and on the GPSDO.
The actual fault i'm guessing is the exciter output transistor has died as it has never had any thermal conducting paste between it and the chassis. These where originally put into paging service around 2005 so 14years trouble free isn't to bad.

Thanks Peter,
just getting back on the air myself, 3RRU has always been a very handy check for me so look forward to its return.
