Fault with Emtron DX1d RF Amp

Post by VK4FP »

Hello all ,
Has anyone had experience with this fault on a DX1d ?
Fault.
Red fault LED on.
Will not go into operate mode .
The HV fine. The Blower riuns OK.
The Reflected Power LED Meter shows "10" on bar Scale on RX.
Suspect VSWR Protection on by Reflected Power Indicator?
Note" Amp only on Standby. No TX .
Suspect Control Board failure or RF Sensor Module ?
But difficult to gain test point monitoring points etc due the the Control PCB mounted vertically(tucked close in to side chassis) and the short leads make it difficult to remove PCB easily and test in situ.
I notice many tantalum caps in the control PCB. Can go leaky .
Anyone had this problem ?
Also awaiting feedback from Rudy.
Cheers,
Lloyd VK4FP.

Thanks Mark. I was thinking either the RF Sensor Unit or the Control PCB Assy. The Sensor Unit is passive. Not much in there . Maybe a damaged /leaky Ge Diode . I'l have a look . At least that Sensor is accessible. The Control PCB is a nightmare. Hi Hi.
Cheers,
Lloyd.
