Hello Peter,
it would appear that your recent post are all empty, not sure what content your trying to post but it is blank when I view it in IE, however it does display a youtube preview in CHROME.

Yet another reason not to use Internet Explorer Peter! :J
The Youtube embed works perfectly ok in Firefox.

But yes, I see the same thing in IE11.
It could be an IE11 issue with regards to the Shockwave flash player, as the YT embed here always worked ok with earlier versions of IE.

I found a similar problem with brand new back to back N Type M to M connector of a rather reputable brand commonly used in commercial systems. This was on the mating side and not on the termination side of the connector.

There was an almost invisible hair thick piece of metal which would intermittently short the centre pin to earth. Took ages to find on a uhf system as is location caused strange results to occur as it sometimes shorted on TX but not RX.

I have heard many horror stories especially with the chinese rubbish off Ebay etc. Chromed connectors, not even silver or gold plated and inferior low quality insulater material. You get what you pay for, although in the case above it appears it was from a higher tier supplier?

Has anyone had any issues with the Jaycar adapters?

SMA-SO239 Adaptors???

Seems like a weird combination considering SMAs belong in the microwave world and SO239s definitely do not!

I have only one (HF) radio with an SO239 on it. Even my FT817s use N connectors....

Hi Tim,
the use of an SMA on compact VHF hand held radio's has become common place and people often want to connect an external antenna to the hand held radio for use in the car or at home. Yes you are right, normaly it is an odd combination but needs create odd bed fellows :om2:

Not to mention if using an SDR. Many only have SMA sockets so to use an external antenna needs an adapter. I have a couple of dongle type SDR's and the SDRPlay RSP2 which all only have SMA sockets. Without adapters I would be up the creek without a paddle.
