Toroids will not do much unless you use multiple turns.

What you need is a number of bypass capacitors fitted directly onto the regulator PCB. I find green caps of 0.001 uF and 0.1 uF on all inputs and outputs usually do the job.

What you need is bypass capacitors on all inputs and outputs and likely locations where interference may be produced. I find greencaps of 0.001 uF and 0.1 uF usually work quite well for HF and VHF.

The noise will also depend on the loading conditions at the time on the regulator so sometimes it may appear OK and others no so.

Hi Igor,
had a pair of toroids with 15 turns of heavy enamel coper wire on the inputs, no caps yet as have nothing suitable on hand..

All my green caps / polyester caps have been rescued from old boards and unsure of the max volts, as solar can produce a bit of current at 80 Volts on the input, not want to have it smoke up while I am not here :mrgreen:

I use the Green cap on 12V solar regulators (for which the reply was intended).

On my SolarRiver Grid Tie Inverter I fitted red ones (mains and panel sides) as these are 630V rated along with a toroid with turns as the device did produce some noise.

Also the type of ferrite used makes a big difference. Need to test it to see how good it is.
