Can hardly wait.
Operate 70MHz and kill VIC local shire on 73 Mhz or SAFPOL Forests over border on 70 Mhz
LOL
Good luck

Steve, hams in EU have operated on a shared 70MHz allocation in EU for many years without any problems and I can't see how VK would be any different.

Re: WIA submission for allocation at 70 MHz
I operated on 4m (70MHz) in the UK for years before emigrating to VK. Indeed I still have all my HB transverter here somewhere.
We dodged around their old Band 1 405 line B&W TV and a myriad of other mobile radio services without any major QRM even with old AM valve gear.
It is a fantastic band quite unlike 2m or even 6m in terms of propagation etc.
It would be a tremendous asset to us here in VK if it became a reality.
Good on the WIA

yes, i would love to see a 4m band in Australia. as someone who love low band VHF, i would most certainly give my support. i just hope on the hope that standards will have 4m too. there
are already off the self radios ready to go with 4m.

Yes Kevin good on the WIA for doing something
Re: WIA submission for allocation at 70 MHz
Thanks to the WIA.
This development of this submission by the WIA is exactly the reason that all amateurs should be members.
It is by having the dedicated resources of the WIA together with many very experienced volunteers that a submission of such quality can be developed.
Without the WIA, this could not happen and all amateurs would be the losers.
With the WIA we get great advocacy and excellent representation at Federal and International level.
Amateur radio in Australia thus has an excellent future.

Re: WIA submission for allocation at 70 MHz
Thanks for the reminder, Richard.
The proposal for an amateur allocation at 70 MHz was included in the WIA's submission to the ACMA of 11 July 2014. Published on the WIA website, here: http://www.wia.org.au/newsevents/news/2 ... /index.php
Glenn Dunstan's "proposal" was put to the Board more than a year later, in 2015 . . . which the Board rejected on multiple points.

Are the local shire down your way and SAFPOL Forests still using crystal sets?

Re: WIA submission for allocation at 70 MHz
I'll second that. I was a UK 4m user, both portable SSB DX and mobile FM, and found it to be a brilliant band. The only problem with it was the lack of off-the-shelf equipment which kept 4m quiet and used only by the most enthusiastic operators. Although some may not consider that to be any problem at allVK4UH wrote:I operated on 4m (70MHz) in the UK for years before emigrating to VK. Indeed I still have all my HB transverter here somewhere.

Whoever gets the blame for 4m, good on them.
