Another good night on Tuesday I logged on 1500hz:

VK2DUX
VK7BEN
VK7MA
VK2XTC

and on 1000hz
VK5RM

I also heard/saw a VK3? early on who didn't call back in, a VK4WIS?? and I believe a VK7FGMG was RXing.

Very interesting to see and hear the differences between signals and to see the VK7s disappear at sunset. I have found my DSP to be effective on stronger signals in improving the read as well, not so on weaker signals.

Paul,

I had to leave quickly so sorry for not hanging around.

It was the first time I've used hell and it's interesting.
Very clear signals from you with little actual received signal.

I'll try to log in again next week and afterwards try a few more modes that remain unused on FLdigi.

Yes I nearly forgot it was Tuesday as well after a busy ANZAC Day!

5 stations on Myself, VK3EDM, VK2EIK, VK5ZT and another.

Propagation was poor and I was distracted by a shack visit from local F call VK3FETS who enjoyed seeing the contacts and the doubling where you could read two stations over the top of each other.

I will have a go at the stretched version of Hell next week that is useful under difficult conditions will be good to see how others RX it.

Sorry guys I completely forgot about last night. The long weekend kind of through my mind out of whack by a day and thought it was still Monday last night. Oh well always next week. I will be operating or RXing depending on what happens from the local radio club so I might be under VK4WIS and not VK4LHD. I still got to get the TX working on the club setup but might just take my laptop and radio with me and use the clubs antenna.

Cheers

All fine Tim, it certainly was very difficult conditions for Feld Hell. But Martin VK7MA via Richard VK2EIK got us on Olivia. What a great weak sig mode.

Compton,

You didn't come up ?

You would be 60+ to me on 40m as you're just down the road.
Next time let me know and we can try some of the more obscure data modes available.

We could do Oliva on 2 Meters at that distance.

I'll like to try SSTV if anyone is interested next time.

Brian,

I've just started to use a Timewave audio interface. Haven't got the TX going yet. It's on the list. A couple of years ago a few of us use all the modes in FLdigi on many bands including 2m simplex and through repeaters. Was a lot of fun and quite interesting.

I'll have to read that Timewave manual again!

The Conditions were not in my favour last night as I could hardly hear anyone. I could just decode VK2DUX and I could see a VK7 in the mix but nothing good enough to work. I called CQ several times under the call sign VK4WIS as I was at the local radio club last night and I got no where fast. I hung around till about 6:40pm before giving up. I like the idea of Brian VK2XTC and have a go at SSTV after the Hell session next Tue night. Just hope the conditions are much better next week.

Cheers

Came on late but had a QSO with Paul VK3IH.
Thanks Paul.
I am using Multipsk and still getting used to the many different configuration options for all the mode, so thank you for your patience.

That was all a bit of a busy time down here, trying to help one kid with home work, another buy concert tickets and help with dinner... in all that I saw VK3EDW, VK2DUX and VK2EIK and when the Olivia time slot arrived dinner was on the table... maybe next week...

Just in case you have never used Olivia, this has got to be one of the best low signal modes available it is very tollerent of the noisy lower bands and will get through long after other modes have failed. Always happy to experiment with anybody who is interested.

Thanks David for sticking with me tonight.

Made my first SSTV contact, using Oliva as the back channel.

Olivia beat SSTV on the marginal signals tonight.

See U next week. (ha....pun about Hell .. :D )
