Come and play with digital modes fuzzy wunderkind........

Then after 7pm choose another mode you would like to have a go with, all liaison on VKLOGGER HF ichat.

Yeah, good idea!

How about 30 m, which is an all digital and CW band?

Perfect copy this evening on VK3IH, VK2PWR, VK2EIK and VK3FM using Feld Hell.

It's a cool mode, isn't it? It still requires eyes and brain to decode.

That was fun, contacts around VK3 and 2 with some decodes in VK4, it is a cool mode....

Hope to see a few more contacts between interested operators next Tuesday.

Certainly was fun, so much so that I missed VK0EK on 15m  I was getting perfect decodes once I worked out how to tune in the signal correctly. Strange thing was that I was getting repeat lines with the stronger signals. 30m would be worth a try.

I like the actual human involvement with Feld Hell.

WSPR, isn't that the mode you use when you are asleep?

Good luck with VK0EK. They aren't hearing my 5 watts this evening on 15 m. Worked other bands though (with more than 5 watts).

Unfortunately I didn't get to enjoy the Hell on Tuesday too much as I kept getting called out of the shack. I did put in a few CQ calls early on with no reply's but I did also find the conditions were not in my favour for the first 40 mins or so as I was only decoding bits and pieces. I left it running (I was using HRD) and decoding on its own and found the decoding got better as the evening went on. It might be worth waiting the extra hour for better conditions although next week VK2/3 will be back on normal time so that will help. My HF set up is not great either with only a fan dipole antenna on 80/40/20M that is only about 6mts up but it works well on JT65 and PSK31. Just hope next week I get left alone so I can enjoy the mode.

Yeah that might have been me. I was sending short CQ for the first 10 mins or so and then I started getting called out of the shack.
I've attached a screen shot of what I was getting at the start (This was about 5:20pm local or 6:20pm VK3) using Ham Radio Deluxe but it was not decoding very well. I was getting ready to try a QSO with VK2PWR when I got called out of the shack. Signal and conditions were very poor for me at the start but towards 6pm local (7pm VK3) the decodes were real good but I could not stay in the shack for long enough to start a QSO. My only problem is this week I have a radio club meeting to go to so if I can get down to the club early enough I might try running it from the club station on their better HF antennas. I might change the call sign VK4WIS which is the clubs calls sign since I will be using their gear plus it has to go in the clubs logbook.

nice screen shot, I didn't take one but the VK2's were better than this at my QTH and the VK3's with IF DSP noise reduction were black letters on pure white background with no phasing (slanting of writing) issues at all two lines of text like they were typed on the screen, very impressive.

I await a VK4 Contact!

Hi All,

I will try and get up this evening for the HELL show. I'll be using an ELAD on 5W and full wave loop so will be interesting.

Also often use Olivia 32/1k on 20 meters with EU and works fine even in very signal strengh.

Anyway look forward to hearing some stations tonight.

Excellent John, hope to hear you.

I MAY have to operate portable due to work but it will be interesting to see how HELL works with a mobile whip or a squid pole!

Hi Gent's.
Things didn't quite go the way I planned last night. I was at the local radio club and because it was a meeting night the club had to be setup for the meeting first and by the time I got into the comms room it was already 6:15pm before I could get going only to find there was an antenna connection problem (turned out to be a crook patch lead) and the computer was going through the final stages of a Microsoft update and took its time getting up and running so I missed the first half of the session. Decodes where going well for a while and I got VK3IH very nicely from his mobile setup and VK2DUX also very good decodes. There was a VK7 and a VK5 in there as well but were down a bit. By the time I got the setup into TX mode it was all over but I did send a couple of CQ's under the club call sign VK4WIS so not sure if anyone heard (saw) them.
Hopefully next week will be the week I finally get a few calls out and give you guys a VK4 for the log books.
