Operating outside the wspr segment

Post by VK2FAK »

Hi All...

As Andy has a Balloon up and have been watching it, have noticed today there seem's to be a few stations operating outside of the wspr segment...there could be a reason?, could be by accident, but its our responsibilty to operate correctly. Not to mention that you will get no spots of your signal if you are outside the segment, thus just wasting your time and good efforts.

So maybe its time that everyone has a quick check to make sure things are operating as you want them to.

One thing the JMFD has shown this weekend is just how many people are so far off frequency. Being "in the ballpark" might have been OK back in the days of 160m AM, but when you're chasing weak signals that are down in the noise, whether voice or digital, frequency accuracy makes all the difference.
