Anyone use Hellschreiber?

Anyone use Hellschreiber or want to give it a go in VK?

I haven't made a contact yet but would like to. I imagine as it is relatively narrowband that QRP should be sufficient?

I did use Hellschreiber once, and thought it was pretty cool.

It's an analogue transmission, that works like facsimile, which appealed to me.

I can give it a go tomorrow evening if you like Paul.

I would love to give it a go, along with a number of other digital modes with fldigi does.

I will tx with 5W to a dipole and see how we go?

If no go then perhaps Monday evening?

Paul, that's too early for me.

I am usually up around sunrise, 2020z working Top Band.

2100z or a bit later might suit, as the DX should be shutting down on 40 m by then.

When you guys work out a schedule can you post it back here.

A number of us would like to have a go also.

How about something like "Digital Sunday's" , after the Meteor Scatter guys finish, at about 9am Sunday Mornings on 40 Meters ??

I've tried Calling CQ using Oliva but no one answers . I'd like the give it Hell... :D

Thanks

Yep, I'll be in that, I've tried all the modes that FL Digi has and they are all interesting to use.

What about:

MAD HAS HELL Sundays:

8.30 am Local EAST/EASST until 9.30am local

7035 Khz with Liaison on 7055 Khz LSB (to announce what mode and bandwidth etc)

Start with HELLSCREIBER (Feld Hell) and then try any digital mode, turn up any Sunday or not, up to each operator, no pressure.

Just post here if you are interested.

Sounds good to me. I work nothing but digital modes due to being deaf and Hellschreiber is something that I have yet to try. I will keep an eye on things here and listen out on 40M Sunday mornings before the news broadcast.

I was careful when I put the times up in 'local time' Robert as other nets etc fall foul of summer time (or the change back to proper time) if they have a GMT/UTC time that they are set to.

So it will be 8.30am to 9.30am local time in Victoria so that people who have to get to other events on Sundays will not be caught out. This will change as for VK4 as we move out of summer time.

Does that suit Robert?

I doubt if my 40m signal will get down to the southern states at that time. I would be keen to have a try in the early evening.

Sunday mornings are out for me, as I am nearly always out on my bike at that time.

Late afternoon might be better for VK4-VK3 on 40 m.

I'd like to make a few Hellschreiber QSO.

Feld Hell is not strictly a digital mode, as it needs to be read from the screen like a ticker tape. This gives it a nice "organic" feel, in that you don't rely on a computer to "decode" characters and display what it thinks it heard. Hell is a very old method that goes back nearly a hundred years.

Okay I am easy, how about Tuesday nights 6pm - 7pm Victorian local time would that suit?

Tuesday night sounds good for me but can we use the HF iChat on the logger for Liaison as that would be a lot better for me being deaf and unable to hear HF radio.

Never used HF ichat (mainly on the two VHF and up ones) but we will, I have to use 3G to access internet in shack but should be okay,
