Don't forget to put your details into Contest Radar.
You can do it from the web,
You can do it from from your phone
You can even do it from VKCL.
For those of you that will not have internet access in the field take the time to download and print out the .CSV file so you can have everyone's details handy. Of course it follows that in order to help those without internet in the field we should all try and add out details by early Saturday.

Re: 2016 Summer VHF-UHF Field Day
I should be operating 6M to 3cM on Saturday afternoon/evening from the western arm of Beechmont Plateau, QG61OV25, having only gained approval to be in the farmer's paddock by phone earlier today. I anticipate an 8 hour time slot from around 0200Z to 1000Z, maybe starting a little earlier if the station setup goes well. I will NOT be operating on Sunday AM.
The microwave gear has not been pre-tested this time so whichever bands work will be used. Typical frequencies will be XXXX.150 USB from 50 and 52 to 10368 plus 52.525, 146.500 and 439.000 FM. It will be 3400.150 but 3398.150 can be preset on the 9cM transverter box prior to hoisting the microwave mast vertical if everyone is moving to the lower segment.
The weather forecast for SEQld appears reasonable for a change so here's hoping for a better FD environment ....

The South East Radio Group (VK5SR/P) will be operating from QF02GG 20km NW of Mt Gambier, at this stage on Saturday afternoon & evening operating on all bands from 50MHz to 10GHz & possibly 24GHz if any stations within range. Sunday is a possibility if good conditions are experienced as predicted by Hepburn Charts.

Re: 2016 Summer VHF-UHF Field Day
The combined effort of Col, VK4MIl, Kevin, VK4UH, John, VK4YJV, Phil, VK4IIO and myself, VK4EA was a lot of fun. We will be submitting a log for an 8 hour activation. We went to a bit of an effort using the RDRC caravan and KJs tower trailer with all bands from 6m up to 47GHz. We may as well as left the millimetre stuff at home due to the lack of gear up this way and the 80% humidity didn't help much either. Thanks to Doug VK4OE for trying a 24 and 47GHz contact, we will have to wait until it cools down before another attempt. VKCL tells me we secured 20215 odd points (division 2) thanks to a brief but intense opening on 6m into the Southern states, we did hear a ZL 6m beacon briefly, ever so briefly .......
We are now used to operating in air-conditioned comfort now .......
Thanks to KJ for organising this one, I look forward to the Winter event.

Re: 2016 Summer VHF-UHF Field Day
I returned to Clear Mountain Lookout QG62kq to work Doug VK4OE/2 on 10GHz.... nice to report the Q was completed RS59+ over (only) 118.6km at 21:38z.
Logs have been submitted for both VK4CZ and VK4CZ/P to support the effort made by those to go /P. Thanks for your efforts.

Re: 2016 Summer VHF-UHF Field Day
Hi All.
A good field day, great weather didn't get as hot as predicted.
Even had time to Road test the Geelong Club 3400 MHz "patch panel" project transverter.
That's it in the centre on the camera tripod. Easily achieves 1 Watt output. The noise figure must be pretty good (I've bypassed the Rx side of the diplexer), seriously not much difference to the usual transverter on the same type of patch panel with 1.5 db loss in the LMR240 feedline
Cheers

Re: 2016 Summer VHF-UHF Field Day
Probably one of the best field days we've had for a while. Signals to our east and west were quite strong and we were very pleased to work VK6LD over 2300km on both 2m and 70cm and VK7MO over 460km on 10GHz over a very difficult path.
Of course full credit must go to Barry VK3BJM who's beard must surely have had something to do with the great propagation we experienced over the weekend.
All work and no play makes Nik a dull boy so here we see VK3BA relaxing in the dining area after a big night on the DX!
