Hi Folks,

Just had a look at the ACMA database and there are now pages of NBN allocations at 3410MHz with 20 MHz bandwidth. They are all dated 29th April. So the next activity day might be to try our transverters at 3398MHz.

It had to come sometime.

Many thanks to everyone I worked on April 25.

Cheers,
Rob

Check the geographic areas for the allocations.

Hi Roger,

A while ago I downloaded the following files from ACMA for use with Google Earth.
hcis_area.kml,
hcis_area(1).kml
hcis_area(2).kml

The first covers VK3

The second covers VK2/4

The last covers VK5

As a VK3 I am most interested in the first and I would have to travel to Sale or Warrnambool or Echuca to be out of the zone just to illustrate the size of the problem.

Cheers,
Rob

Hi Folks,

Attached are the kml's I produced using an ACMA on line calculator from hcis co-ordinate of the 3.4 GHz exclusion zones for Amateurs. The Co-ordinates were supplied at the time of the announcement to remove access to the band but I have lost that original statement.

The calculator used was: http://www.acma.gov.au/applications/hci ... to_kml.asp

Cheers,
Rob

The assignment areas are pretty big and extend well beyond a quick drive to the country. Even if one does venture outside the "forbidden zone" you still can't work those inside. I know the ACMA have already started sending notices to license holders of 3.4GHz equipment asking them to apply for new assignments outside 3.4GHz. It's probably time to spin the VFO a couple of MHz CCW.

I've asked Mike if VKCL will handle frequencies below 3400MHz.

Hi all

FYI I have written code for the panels that gives you a 432 MHz IF as well as an option switch for moving down 2 MHz.

Might talk about developments at Gippstech

Hi Tim,

A 'how to reprogram the panel' talk would be great!

I wonder if any retuning of the circuit is needed in any way.

Cheers

And a whole heap more licensed since, as recently as yesterday!

It would be fairly safe to say, amateur operation is now prohibited above 3400.000 MHz in the large population centers.

Re. NBN 3.4 GHz licences....

Our club just received a letter from NBN Co concerning our 3.4 GHz beacon which is within their frequency allocation.
In effect, its our marching orders!!!

We now need to relocate the beacon down to the new beacon section in the bandplan and re-licence accordingly!

Cheers

Hi Daniel,

We've all agreed on 3398. Note that you'll lose a little TX output as a result of this 2MHz move. The exact amount of loss will depend on the ceramic filters in the TX mixer and TX driver but will be in the order of 1dB.

extract from WIA Bandplan document:

3398.000 - 3400.000 NARROW BAND MODES For operation in any part of Australia

3398.000 - 3398.100 EME only
3398.100 - 3398.400 CW / SSB
3398.100 Calling frequency: national primary
3398.200 Calling frequency: national secondary
3398.220 - 3398.240 Digital DX modes
3398.400 - 3398.600 Beacons
3398.600 - 3400.000 Experimental
3400.000 - 3575.000 NO OPERATION IN ACMA RESTRICTED AREAS

3398.100 the new call frequency replacing 3400.100

Dave VK2JDS was saying that the output of the panel was still good at 3398 MHz
