Harvest Dual Band Mobile Antenna

Post by VK2HRX »

Anyone tried one of these?

I'm getting about 2 years out of my 7900 Super Gainer or similar in mobile use. The last one didnt survive the perils of a SOTA trip based around the Braidwood Bakery, near Canberra.

Be interested in real life experience of others.

Hi Compton,

Don't waste your time and money with enclosed coil things on the mobile. They simply don't last.

I accidentally bought 2 Nagoya, NL-770H antennas (only meant to buy one, but figured I'd eventually need the spare) 3 or 4 years a go and I'm still on the original one, with no signs of needing to replace it any time soon. It's survived all sorts of impacts, carparks, wayward shrubbery and other stuff, and keeps on coming back for more. Very solid SS construction: http://www.409shop.com/409shop_product.php?id=105779

Yes, I use one of those as my back up (a Comet one) and like you say they are robust. Maybe I just keep using the back up. I can notice a difference in peformance with repeaters I can and cant get into when I move from the closed coil style SG 7900 to the Comet.

The Harvest one is red so maybe it will be faster?

SG 7900 is better as measured by subjective readability reports from others on repeaters.
