3.4 GHz Activation Day for GippsTech
With GippsTech 2016 occurring in July 9/10, would there be interest in having a 3.4GHz activation day from the Gippsland area on the Sunday afternoon, after completion of GippsTech conference and Lunch, to then go and activate a few hilltops (wx permitting). Dave VK2JDS and myself are driving down and can bring our 9cm gear to work a few VK3's and visiting stations. I think Steve VK2XDE and Gary VK2KYP would probably do the same.

I'll be there and might have to take notes.
One thing I've noticed with one of my panels is that the screws in the filters don't seem to do much with peaking the rx. The first screw peaks the signal well, but the other screws don't seem to do much. I've reduced the signal to see if the front is being overloaded but same result. I haven't done much investigation as yet, time is lacking

Unfortunately post-grad studies have got in the way of finishing our panels (sorry KJ), i am working toward having them finished for the Winter field day, definitely before Gippstech so can I look Lou in the eye and be honest

I bought mine from RS. Still have the issue with courier delivery, but delivery is free if you order on line.
Can you organise for someone at the workplace to accept & hold the parcel for you? Perhaps they have a regular delivery site/location?

Hi everyone
We are looking for some assistance with spare parts for one of our 3.4 GHz panel conversions.
From our "spare" panel, of an original group of three, we are missing one 3429MHz filter.
Early followers of the project will remember the original conversion involved removing the 3429MHz filters from the TX mixer and Tx driver of one "sacrificial" panel and to place them into the Rx mixer in place of the 3496MHz filter of the other two panels. This part of the conversion is no longer required.
We started the original conversion and removed both of the 3429 filters - but now one of them cannot be located.
Does anyone have a spare 3429MHz filter either from a dead panel or after doing the pipe-cap filter modification?

I am new in this forum. I have bought Stealth SM3437 Power Amplifier for 3400 MHz and I am looking for any information how to make it operational.
Do You have any schematic or any other experiences with it ? My transvertor is actualy giving about 70 mW on 9cm and it seems too much.
Would it make sense to open the PA and bypass some of the input ampifier or is better to reduce the power with some attenuator ?
Many thanks for any relevant input. I did not found anything on the Internet up to now, only short datasheet of it.

I suggest leaving the amplifier intact and using an attenuator. You need about -5dbm drive (~300uW) for full output. I get +44dbm (~25 watts) from mine.OK1MWW wrote:I am new in this forum. For 70mW drive, you'll need a 23db attenuator. This is also an opportunity to add additional filtering if required and not have to worry about the losses.
If you'd like to try a QSO on 3400MHz, a group of VKs will be operating from Schafberg (JN89EX) this coming weekend (18 & 19 June).
We will have all bands up to 122GHz (if all goes to plan).

At least three of us from the GARC will bring our panels but I'm conscious that once the pizza binge is over most people have to leave rather quickly to catch trains, planes and perhaps automobiles. Hi Lou.'I have my panel completed and operating on FM using my VX5 as the exciter .
I have had a contact with myself across the workshop to Peter's VK7PD panel .
Both panels have approx the same RX performance and TX output ,
I dont think that it's worth the trouble to bring it with me as I intend to travel light and only have carry on luggage .
However I would like to have a look inside someone elses panel to see how they have modified theirs.'
Looking forward to catching up .
