Power limits for radio amateurs in the Republic of South Africa have been raised to 1000 W on many of the bands, in new regulations published by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) recently.
SA amateurs also now have an 8m band - 40.675 to 40.685MHz. It's for 'propagation studies'; up to 400 W and all emissions are permitted, except pulse and fast scan TV.
The SA 160m band has been extended to 2 MHz.
