Feed through capacitors...
Feed through capacitors...
Looking for feed through caps (bulkhead) about 1000pF.
They seem to be fairly expensive at around $6 - $12 ea on eBay (plus postage).
Farnell/Element14 have them for about $9 for Qty 10 (plus $12 postage).
Any cheaper sources ?

Re: Feed through capacitors...
Thanks all.
This is the type of FT cap I am interested in...
I see these used for power supply feed pins for RF preamplifiers and the like.
Given the price of those little ceramic feedthrough caps maybe $8 or so is about it for this type...

Thanks Mark - I grabbed a 10x lot. Doesn't look like they come with nuts - hopefully I can squirrel out ones that fit...ZL2WHO wrote:10x for about $9...

You could always solder them to the shieldVK2XV wrote: Thanks Mark - I grabbed a 10x lot. Doesn't look like they come with nuts - hopefully I can squirrel out ones that fit...

Re: Feed through capacitors...
Could do for internal stuff - but I want to use them as power feeds into an aluminium die-cast box.VK3ALB wrote:You could always solder them to the shield

Re: Feed through capacitors...
Steve,
I've just checked one that I have - it has a 1/4 inch 28 TPI thread, which is a common UNF thread size. Any decent tool or bolt shop should have - or be able to get for you - a tap at that size. Then you can tap the die-cast box and screw them in, good and proper. You'll need a 5.5 mm drill bit for the hole to be tapped - even Bunnings will have these...
And to remove any uncertainty, take it into the decent tool or bolt shop and get them to confirm the thread size (if you don't happen to have a thread gauge yourself, of course).

Thanks - I have a tap and die set. I'll see what's what when they arrive.
