VK4RBN - Mt Glorious 147.000 MHz repeater

Post by VK4EA »

The tail has returned ............

I'd appreciate some reports, the fault was a failed power supply. I took the opportunity to replace the entire repeater with a Tait T800 S1. Output power is slightly more, and a much improved receiver.

A bit light on south of Toowoomba, but easy copy. That's with a 10 element log periodic pointed away from it, though.
Haven't tried getting into it yet.

I prefer the tail on the end of the TX. It's a good way to know you got into the repeater. Good signals on it up here now at my QTH on the Sunny Coast. 40db easy on the vertical.

Thanks for the reports, the WIA news will be happening this morning via that repeater. For everybodies information the news broadcast is totally automated using funky BASH scripts, these computer-ma-bob thingy-whatsits and the Inter-ma-net are useful.

Further details on the new Mt Glorious repeater (VK4RBN), there is no tone required to access the repeater, however there is a 91.5Hz CTCSS sent with the output. So for those who have radios with poor front ends, that is, get snotted by pagers etc, you can setup your VK4RBN memory to only open the mute when a 91.5Hz tone is received.

All the repeaters should include CTCSS encode, like VK4RBN, so users have the opportunity to use CTCSS decode if this benefits them.

Users employing CTCSS decode would avoid hearing pager etc interference by hiding its presence.
