VK7MO doing his 10GHz

Post by VK2FAK »

Hi all...

a grab from Moon-net...

On Friday October 3, a QRP, JT4f, QSO was completed between Rex, VK7MO operating portable from Mt Wellington in Tasmania, QE37oc and Mirek OK2AQ in the Czech Republic, JN89eu. VK7MO used his standard portable equipment consisting of a 77 cm dish and 50 W. OK2AQ used a 180 cm dish and 20W.

Interesting to see what can be done with low power ( guessing not easy to obtain at those freq) a small dish.....and the will..

Hi all

Just for clarity for ops less familiar with microwave operating

50 watts is anything but QRP on 10GHz. In fact this is an enormous amount of power for this band which few VK stations can generate - let alone out portable.

Even with this amount of power and antenna gain from his (modest) dish, Rex is making outstanding achievements on 10 GHz digital EME communications

All credit to him - an inspiration to the rest of us

(2 watts on 10 GHz)
