Since we're posting pics of Dick Smith memorabilia, I have an old catalogue and a "Little Dick Fan" badge.

When I first got ham ticket farmers left their milk at side of road for collection in Adelaide Hills.

When I first got my ham ticket this is how we got our bread from Nailsworth bakery, and picked up horse poo and put on the tomato plants.

Luxury (to be said in a Lancashire accent!)
I remember the milk begin delivered by horse like that when I grew up in New Zealand (and that was in a city - Lower Hutt!) except the carriage was just an open tray on wheels and the milkman had nothing to sit on. But there again he was too busy running between the tray and the gates with the glass milk bottles and collecting the tokens we used instead of coins. The horse just kept an eye on the milkman and moved along the street as was needed - he had walked the route so many times before and knew all of the corners....
All you could get was pasteurised or homogenised milk. No-one liked the homogenised stuff as we all used to go for the little blob of cream on the top for our cereal. (Don't get me started on the 1/2 pint bottles that we had to drink at break when I was in primary school, especially on the hot summer days.)
However we used to also get real cream - none of this mucked about stuff you get these days!

Must have been late 50's? , I lived on Randwick Rd opposite the primary school during the 1960's and the 6pm swill was a sight to behold along with so many things forgotten , good thing was Griffins factory was 10 minutes bike ride away so a bag of broken was close by

Those were the days.

Didn't get to NZ (Stokes Valley) until 1965. 1d for a box of matches or 3 for 2d (Nov 5 was blast, in every meaning of the word), 1- 6d would buy enough fish'n'chups to feed the whole family.

Hey, I lived in Porrirua in 1967, bit young at the time to have partaken in the swill.

Obviously tastes change , Russian Vodka for a couple of bucks , it took less than $5.00 to fill the mini but the 37 Plymouth v8 powered coupe I had back around 1971 took three times that and it needed that twice a week , ouch . Nothing like walking over the neighbours place and watching him work hf with his home made tx and commercial rx , flicking lights in the shed and a buzzing transformer to sound the key as he chatted to the world ( circa 1966>7)

Emtronics, Rod Irving, Magraths, All Electronics, Homecrafts, McGills and more. The list goes on.

What do their buildings look like today?

Watch this comprehensive just released 2-part series on electronics/radio stores in Melbourne 1960s - 1990s.

Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwb6LJlYZf8

Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoAmjv3hPU4

Known ones missing are Waltham Dan, Ellistronics and Tandy outlets.

In a similar vein but of Australia wide interest is the new 'State of Electronics' video series at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOepzh ... PxDx-kCn7Q
