Australian Ionospheric Prediction Service under threat

Post by VK2AZ »

The IPS provides forecasts and alerts of ionospheric activity. They may be forced to cease or reduce the Ionospheric Prediction Service, or offer it as a commercial service.

Amateurs are probably most interested in their HF condition reports:

The details of the review are at http://review.ips.gov.au/.

I encourage you all to request the discussion paper from the email address on the review site.
They use this "number of requests" to judge importance.

And this was the prompt reply I received, I had assumed it was a Oz funding cutback, but maybe not so:

I will be out of the office May 9 - June 6. I will respond as quickly as I can while away or shortly after returning.

paper requested!

adding spurious text as apparently "paper requested" is too short a post for the forum to accept, therefore you all get to waste your life reading this sentence as I'd prefer to indicate my support rather than neglect to post anything
