What is the approximate/recommended minimum distance from the top of a Long-Wire multi-band tuned antenna to a 5-Ghz Ethernet Link sitting atop at the apex of a 75-ft mast, to avoid RFI into the link, presuming bad vSWRs at odd occasions?

Hi Danny
If this is only the high end of a long wire a 2m length of nylon rope with an insulator should be fine.
If you are going to interfere with the Ethernet link it will not be because it is on 5gig but what the down converted frequency is.
If it is 100Mhz less chance of a problem. If 10Mhz possible problems. Is it cat5 cable to the top of the mast ?
There is only one option put up that wire and get on the air !!!
20m from Broome to Perth is easy.
See you on the air you old retired pensioner.
At your age life is too short to ponder get in and do it.

Hi Danny,
I have a 2.4 GHz link at the top of my main tower to a friends network. The VHF yagi's are all above the link on the pipe out of the tower (6,2,70 &23) and the HF OCF dipole BALUN hangs right next to the link transceiver. The only problem I have found is with the Cat5 cable coming out of the link transceiver picking up HF transmissions, so would suggest you include some ferrites on the lead to your link equipment near where it goes into the Ethernet connector. If in doubt about the type, look around for people who have installed some electronic equipment of late and scavenge the ones in the 'options box" that they did not bother with fitting. You would be surprised how often these get left in a bottom drawer by people and it will probably not cost you anything, especially postage.
