Here's another SDR kit, and it's Australian.

It has a lot of SMT, but these are already soldered to the board for you. There are some through hole components and toroids to wind and mount.
Also look at March AR magazine, for another interesting construction article by Peter VK3YE for a very simple SDR receiver.
