[EVENT] Melbourne QRP by the Bay (Sat Nov 9, 2013)

Following an encouraging response from several recently emailed, I'm pleased to confirm that a 'QRP by the Bay' gathering will be held on Saturday November 9 at Chelsea beach.

Details are as follows:

Format: Informal gathering. If you can, please bring one item of portable, homebrew or interesting gear (or antenna), with show and tell from 3:30pm. And maybe circuits to hand out if relevant. We may set up a portable station from approx 4:30pm depending on interest.

Date: Saturday November 9, 2013

Time: from 3pm local. Stay as short or long as you like.

Food: Some nibbles will be provided. Feel free to bring more.

Venue, facilities and transport: By the bay 30km south of Melbourne. Grassed areas near water. Free barbecues and shelter if wet. Playground for children. Parking nearby (eg supermarket). Trains every 10 min (Frankston line) or direct buses from Doncaster, Nunawading, Glen Waverley or Springvale (902) every 30 min.

What a fine idea Peter...hope u get a crowd and all goes to plan..can't come as will be recuperating but will listen for the signals

Peter: Thanks. I suspect that most emissions will be 300Hz - 3kHz, but I'll have the squid pole up and 7 MHz at least (possibly 7160 kHz).

Andrew: Looking forward to seeing you. Don't miss the lighthouse climb in the park.

Weather forecast isn't great for Saturday, but it's still happening and an alternative venue nearby is available if needed (please RSVP for details).

Looks like approx 6 - 12 are attending so it should be good.

Despite indifferent weather, it was a successful day with 13 present (including harmonics), 4 HF stations and heaps of gear. Thanks to all who came along. Worth holding again.

thanks peter, my kids (3 and 5) liked the park, and the kite!, and they tried to eat all the food as well, it was a good afternoon
