MAD: 5.7GHz shootout - SEQ (VK4)

Post by VK4EA »

Gidday,

The Redcliffe & Districts Radio Club are pleased to announce the inaugural 5.7GHz shootout Microwave Activity Day (MAD), starting at 11AM, 3rd of November.

This is an awesome opportunity to test your 6cm receiver, dish, feeds, the whole works.

Location is the RDRC premise, goto the Club website -> http://www.redclifferadioclub.org.au/about-the-club for directions.

The BBQ will be fired up, sausages and cold drinks on offer. So even if you don't have a 5.7GHz system and have a fleeting interest in microwave operating, please drop in for a look.

Hi Peter.
Hopefully I will be free that day so count me in. I need another good test day now that my 5.7Ghz transverter has been fully setup.

Cheers

Looking forward to it.
Will be keen to compare my overall system against others, and see how it performs.

And in case some are not aware:

Standard call license holders are permitted on 5.7 GHz, as well as 1296 MHz and 2.4 GHz. :D
You do not need to hold an advanced call to operate on three out of the five mainstream "microwave bands"!

These social days are a great way to join in, ask questions, and see how easy it is to get going on microwaves.
The Redcliffe & Districts Radio Club has great facilities, so come along and introduce yourself.

It goes without saying, in addition to any working system for the shoot out itself, bring along any 5.7 GHz related toys you may have purchased or home brewed.
Alternate antenna feeds, dishes, filters, multipliers, LOs, PLLs... the list goes on.

Others are always very interested in learning about what is out there, and how to do things. :D

If you have any microwave related items for sale/swap/trade, bring them along as well.

This is creeping up, fast.
Just over two weeks to go, so now is the time to finish off your 5.7 GHz gear so you can bring it along to the MAD 5.7 G shoot out and BBQ.

See you there. :D

This Sunday!
Starting from 11am, at the Redcliffe and Districts Radio Club club rooms.

The weather Gods are on our side, for a change!

"Just how good is your 5.7GHz receiver?"
Come and find out.
We are setting up a weak signal source in the park next door, so this is a good opportunity to optimise your dish, feeds, and transverters.

Even if you don't have 5.7GHz kit, come down for a look, and enjoy the sausage sizzle with the S/E QLD microwave enthusiasts.
Pick their collective brains, and see how easy it is to become active on the microwave bands.
You do not need to be a licensed plumber to be on microwaves!

The R&DRC club rooms are located at MacFarlane Park in Klingner Rd, Kippa Ring.
