Yaesu FTM 350 and External Byonics GPS 2

Has any one got an external Byonics GPS 2 working with the Yaesu FTM 350? I am wanting to get one going so I can power it 24/7 and thus not have to wait for the internal (on the back of the head) Yaesu GPS to power up and get a lock a each time I turn the radio on. I know the theory behind how to do it from the manual etc but was wondering if anyone has actually done it with this Byonics GPS so I can pick your brains.
