Active up until recently, I regret to advise that Brian Bannister, VK4QB is now a silent key.
His funeral was this morning.

Thanks Adam - I had intended to put something on the logger & I intend to send something to AR in the near future , But just briefly - Brian VK4QB was 78 & born in ZL land , & had a very interesting working life - He is survived by a Daughter Sonya & son Gary - he never really recovered from this wife Doreen passing 3 years ago approx .. I first worked Brian in 1969 when he was VK9QB he was working with AWA at Lae at the time , & was on 6m - back in the xtal locked AM days..... he was an Avionics Technician & airframe fitter was trained in the NZ airforce . He moved to Qld & started his own avionics business (Bannister Avionics) at Rockhampton & other places - I lost track of him until I retired a few years ago & & we hooked up again - he rang me many time reminiscing about old times, - He was a keen Vhfer playing around with 6m , 2m , 70cm & recently 1.2ghz he also worked for Microair before retirement & was responsible for the early development for the ADSB system now currently used in Australia. he was brilliant with logic TTL design in its early days & development & enjoyed amateur radio & all aspects enormously ..More to follow later .

RIP old friend - Brian VK4QB
