It is with great sadness I must report the passing of Bob Paton VK0BP VK2ABP

He passed away suddenly at his home in Bathurst during the week.
Bob is well known throughout the world for his radio ops from Davis station for over a year in Antarctica in 2009 with many thousands of HF contacts, and 6 metre band received signals.(!!)
He also worked a lot of 23cm EME, HF QRP PSK, CW, and a lot of contests from portable locations. He was my best mate and will be missed by so many people in radio and work circles.

His funeral arrangements have been finalised (which are a bit different to what was on this mornings WIA broadcast) as such :

11 am Saturday the 20th (this coming sat) at the Salvation Army Citadel. 229 Stewart st , Bathurst NSW

followed by a wake at his home; 7 Hassall Grove Kelso

Bob was 36

Very sorry to hear that, Dave. Far too many years before his time. I had met Bob a couple of times before when he wasn't out on his travels.

My condolences to all his friends and family.

I'm very sad to read of Bob's death. I met him with you, Dave, at Gippstech a couple of times and only a week ago he participated in the VHF field day scoring survey. It was particularly poignant this morning to read his words he had written the previous weekend.

My condolences to his family and friends including you Dave, of course. What a sad situation.

Condolences and wishes to Bob's family, another great operator taken far too soon.

I was fortunate enough to work Bob as VK0BP with my Foundation Call in 2009

R.I.P Bob
