New 10m Beacon at Mildura

Hello,

Just to let you know there is a new 10m beacon now in operation at Merbein, about 7km west of Mildura (NW Victoria). The beacon is on 28.2630 CW operating under the callsign of VK3RRU. The beacon is currently running 20W into a vertical antenna. For more information on the beacon please look up VK3RRU on qrz.com.

Had a quick listen but nothing heard here yet, bit close. Possibly something coming back from the north, but hard to tell with all the pops and whistles on there currently.

As you have VK3RRU on QRZ, is it possible that you could also add the 2m beacon which is also listed under that callsign ? Im not sure if the 23cm beacon has that call also or not? Is there a 70cm one?

Yep it was pounding into Perth yesterday around 0200utc, 579, strongest VK 10 metres bcn i have ever heard

Outstanding signal, not bad for 20 watts it reported

I will monitor for this beacon tomorrow. It's interesting how the country's 10m beacons come and as quickly go again during the course of a day.

From here though, I will need to filter down the Rx frequency since VK2RSY is strong and close by (28.2615 MHz).

Beacon has now been active for 3 or so days, with some good results given the poor conditions on 10m recently. Looking forward to seeing what happens when the propagation picks up over summer.
