Hi All.
I have often wondered if 40 Mhz would be good for monitering MUF in the lower VHF bands.
The 33.0 data, NBFM from JA in the 33.6 area, and 43.650 data are all very useful for spoting openings, poss leading to 6m propergation.
I see Bob ZL1RS has a big log periodic for these bands, mind you he is one of the keenest low band VHF hams I have had the pleasure of meeting.

Could this lead to a new 40 MHz ham band ? i wonder if the ACMA, RSM could give up a 200Khz wide chunk of it.

We have a class-licence allocation somewhere near 40 MHz if you thought it could be done with <1 watt?
"Industrial/Scientific/Medical".
Surely propagation studies are scientific?

In the next few months I will be applying for the new 432 beacon license. This leads me to the question is a 40mhz beacon of any value. I for one look for 33 data on a regular basis and something in the 40 mhz area would be handy when 6 is dead. I will make some enquiries and see what sort of response I get from the MED givin that its not a ham band.

Keep us informed what MED say about 40MHZ beacons.
Would be interesting to have several on the air.

Would it help us up on 50MHz, hard to say.
We maybe interested in putting one on air if other members of our groop are interested and we get an alocation there.

Power limit is EIRP.

Hi all.
Our rsm govt crowd no longer manage the tv lowband segment 44-51 mhz spectrm, they have indicated that they will except applications for 45 mhz beacons.
I have asked them to raise an ealier request and they have indicated they will reopen it.

The OZ7IGY 40 MHz beacon has been on air since 2007: http://www.oz7igy.dk However, the "allocation" is for land mobile radio (LMR) only which means that the license is not a classic amateur radio beacon license but a LMR license that has to be renewed and paid for each year. Currently it is off air since we are waiting for the, northern hemisphere, spring to arrive.

The original idea with the OZ7IGY 40 MHz beacon was, beyond the normal beacon reasons, to follow the MUF increase from 28 MHz -> 40 MHz -> 50 MHz -> (60 MHz not in Denmark) -> 70 MHz -> FM band - 144 MHz.
