Using WSJT 9 in echo mode

Hi everyone,

I am wondering whether anyone has been using WSJT 9 in echo mode, and whether the results you've gotten make sense.

The echo S/N predicted by VK3UM's EME Calc are much better than what I measure.

Echo mode on WSJT9 does not work for me on windoze XP, only with windoze 7. My preferred computer for digital modes is my old laptop running on XP - them's the breaks, so unable to use Echo mode on EME.

Has anyone successfully coerced XP to run echo mode successfully?

use it all the time on my PC's

All PC's in the house run Win 7

I take the measurements with a pinch of salt - sometimes they are speaker copy and its saying -23 and sometimes I cannot hear them and it says -18

go figure

What I do like is the automated send rx cycles!

what does not work exactly ??

Cheers

Hi Simon/others,

On my XP machine, Echo mode will TX, and TX and TX and can't be stopped from txing - so to stop it txing one must selecting another mode on the run or crashing out of WSJT. There is never any decode or window display of any results.

It just won't work on my XP machine! Others may have success?

HI ROss,

Not that I'm likely to hear my own echos with my current system, but I have played with Echo Mode on a couple of my XP machines and it seems to work fine. I'll try it out again tonight just to check.

WSJT 10 is available now. I've compiled it for Fedora 20 x86_64.
But, we have a BUG. Fedora 20 Desktop x86_64 won't use your .asoundrc file.
But, Fedora 18 upgraded to 20 with "fedup" does process "~/.asoundrc". Go figure.
".asoundrc" is needed to "fix" the audio sample-rate.
We NEED WSJT for JT65C for EME.
