Hi there one and all I an trying to get a signalink working with an ic2200h any one had a play with one of these devices I have followed the instructions to the letter , the computer puts the think into tx with the Orr light on but the tx will not work from here to the radio any ideas

There are two models of the Signalink - the SL1+ and the SLUSB. They both require you to add a "personality jumper set" on the DIL socket inside of the SL unit itself. There were a few different Signalink-made cables that were available to suit various radios and hopefully you have bought the correct one.

It sounds like the PTT function is missing or has been put across to the wrong pin on the 8pin modular socket and hence the cable to the IC-2200, hence the SL unit goes to into transmit mode but that PTT signal is not being sent on to the 2200.

A few minutes comparing the PTT pinout on the 2200 lead to the modular plug and adding a jumper to the relevant pin (typically one of 1 through connecting it to pin 14 on the 16 pin DIL socket should fix it up.

I've had similar issues with other brands of cables where there were missing connections on the data plug to the radio. A quick look at the diagrams identified the issue.
