Is this beacon off-line?

Post by VK7HDX »

Is the 70cm version of VK3RGI (432.434MHz) offline?
Because the 2 and 23cm beacons are been received here as normal when the conditions are right.

Hi Karl,

I saw the 70 cm beacon on the bench at Ralph's last weekend. So yes - off-line at present. Not sure when it will be back on air.

Of course, you could look to see if you can hear the 2.4 and 10 GHz beacons......

Cheers,

Is the 70cm version of VK3RGI still off-line?

Karl,

I think so. I have not had chance to check with Ralph, but I am not hearing it locally. I do know that Ralph has been kept very busy with work and family commitments, so has had little time to work on amateur radio (including beacons & repeaters) projects.

Hi Peter..

I thought that might be the case. Because I also understand it take someones "time and effort" to drive to the site then unplug the device then drive back to there QTH then find the time to find the fault on the workbench then source the parts to make it work again. Then drive back the site and plug it back in-line and so on.

Sometimes its a bit of a thankless job.

So to ALL you Amateur operators out there give these guys a round of applause for the endless efforts.
