FT817 VFO stacking

Post by VK3ALB »

Hi All,

According to page 21 of the manual, the FT817 has a stacked VFO system.

It says in part, "There are two such VFOs per Amateur band, so you may set VFO-A to the CW sub-band, and VFO-B to the SSB sub-band, if you like."

I think that means I can choose a band then toggle VFO a/b (ON THE SAME BAND) and set them as desired THEN choose another band and set VFO a/b (ON THE NEW BAND) as desired.

Try as I might, I can't seem to use the VFOs as I expect. In practice I find there are two VFOs (A & B) and I can put a different band in each VFO. That is, the VFOs remember the last bands that were selected. That doesn't match the description in the manual.

Has anyone tried this? Have I misunderstood the description in the manual? Is this another example of poor Japanese to English translation? }:[
