I have obtained the paper noted in the news piece.

It is, to say the least, intriguing.

But - and I have to say it - something similar was forecast (a biggie), by a scientist named 'Dikpati', before Cycle 24 crept out from under its rock and fizzled to an unsatisfactory hump.

That's the thing about forecasts, they are just that. Reality could be quite different, with the effluxion of time <sigh>.
