VK1RGI seen in QF56if

Post by VK2XAX »

I've had my IC-910 listening in the VK1 direction and I've seen VK1RGI pop out of the noise on Spectrum lab a few times now :)

Not loud enough to be audible but its there :)

And it popped up out of the noise and was audible for 5 minutes or so as per pic below. No signal on the meter but the audio was unmistakeable.

I am glad people are seeing 1RGI. I have had it on AE using spectran and I am collecting WSJT wav. files which I will send to Glen.
Over the weekend I was getting VK2RSY on 1296.420 with a terrible buzzing sound T1. Is it them or me?

What settings do you use in Spectrum Lab, are there any sort of averaging etc?

I might have a listen from the remote station over the next few days.

Hi Hayden,

I've attached my settings file from Spectrum Lab for you to try.

VK1RGI was in this morning for over an hour. Just above the noise, but 'car alarm' siren clear. Able to read CW ident a couple of times. Approx 215K from QF55kk
Faded out about 10.00(ish). Now I know where to point beam (24 el loop).

Hi all,

Been watching the beacon all day with SL. see included pic.

I've also updated my Spectrum Lab config file.

I now use the Long Term Averaging facility to get the beacon out of the noise. This also allows me to capture the actual frequency of the beacon with the peakrf() function and show that on a button.

The frequency readout pre-supposes that you have a GPS locked rig and you have calibrated your sound card and accounted for any offset from the radio.

I've also added a "clear" button to clear the collected data and start again.

The "Capture Now " button does a screen grab and puts it in the Specturm folder in C drive - see attached sample.

You will also notice that my frequency response is now flat. See the Freq-Resp tab in settings for how to do this.

cheers

Tim
