Baofeng UV-5R Receive Noise

On weak signals the UV-5R had a noise floor above the squelch that was stronger than the received signal when using the stubby antenna...by accident, I removed the supplied in- line charger and the weak signal was received OK..no noise floor..so just a tip.. remove the charger when listening for weak or remote repeaters using the stubby antenna.
