Kenpro KR-1000S

Post by VK4BVI »

I have inherited (for a small price), a Kenpro KR-1000S rotator. The rotator was allegedly faulty, would only move 4 or 5 degrees. Simple fix I thought. Repack the bearings with some grease and a check over everything should be good to go.
Turns out the only problem was a broken mast clamp. This must have been causing the support pole to go out of alignment with the top bearing, therefore jamming everything up. Since removing the support pole and offending clamp, everything works fine.

Now to my question. Are mast clamps for the 1000S interchangeable with the Yaesu G-800 or G1000 or similar?

Cheers

My recollection is that these were marketed under the Kenpro brand but were built to the Yaesu design and specs so in effect is is the equivalent of the G-1000DXA or DXC model. If you look at this page ( http://kur02.com.au/index.php?option=co ... &Itemid=24 ) under part Kenpro ID 8601-040, the label says Yaesu GC-038 too.

I think you would be pretty safe picking up the Yaesu spare part.

Thanks for the reply and link.

After trawling through various sites, I thought I was on the right track.

I'm off to order the GC-038 clamps.

Thanks again.

Cheers.
