Hi All,
I plan to go portable on a Central Coast headland near Wyong this coming Saturday 23rd from 09:00 to 10:30.
The exact location to be determined this coming Wednesday.
I can have any of the following bands 23,13and 9cm, please let me know if available and which bands you will have

Garry,
Steve VK2KFJ suggested I contact you to work out how to align a contact. (I just read the note on Skype and wonder if I could email you, then clicked on the forum and up this message popped. Very odd coincidence ! )
Do you have a GPS coordinates for that site ? I've yet to use by 3.4GHz panel so cannot wait to give it a try.
I'm keen to try it out on the 23rd.

Sorry guys but I'm looking like a non starter for Saturday. I've got a couple of things happening Saturday morning and may not get back in time for the Microwave activity. Plus my battery charger has now gone cactus and I got no way of charging the field batteries and the generator is just too noisy.
If I get out at all it will be from the top of Buderim and I might just run 1296 and 2.4Ghz only. I won't have anyone else with me who has an advanced licence to run 3.4Ghz and 10Ghz and I'm having some GPS lock problems with 5.7Ghz. It is also weather dependant so if it looks like rain I won't be out at all as I have no shelter from the rain.
Cheers

Robert the wx is highly likely to be excellent & your portable Buderim location is a good spot.

I've been unable to confirm if the proposed /P in Glenrock State Forest is accessible.... wont waste the 3 hr drive in case it's not! But will keep working on it or another spot in the Scenic Rim for a future MAD event!
Just doing a mad search for another site... Kamarun Lookout seems very positive...
Kamarun Lookout
QG61NU42
710mASL
1.2GHz 180w 36el yagi
2.4GHz 30w Gridpack
3.4GHz 1w Panel
10GHz 3w 600mm prime feed dish
but if crowded with day trippers I'll head back to Duck Creek Rd in Lamington N.P!

Re: 23 on 23 Plus MAD - Sat July 23rd 2016
well I can confirm there will be a small crew heading to the Border Ranges National Park, check my /P profile for the location. Kevin, VK4UH, Colin, VK4MIL and myself will be activating 1296 to 47048MHz from about midday, perhaps earlier depending on travel time. We are going to consderable effort to have all microwave bands, we really hope to have someone to talk to . Apparently phone coverage is a bit dodgy there, so it's strictly RF only liaison, 146.500 and 439.000 MHz, FM simplex, or Mt Glorious 147.000MHz FM repeater should work as well.

I can confirm that I will NOT be active during the MAD this weekend as I have a clash with other activities.
Maybe next MAD or during the Spring FD in November.

Any vk2 activity planned by anyone?
its a long drive to the sydney basin for me, so will save the diesel money if no one will be on air.

Re: 23 on 23 Plus MAD - Sat July 23rd 2016
Hope you get some activity Dave. Would be great if the 23-on-23 Activation event concept extended into VK2 and 3... gives another reason to 'dust' off the 23cm & uWave gear, and reduce the $/QSO rates
As for operating, the suggested schedule for tomorrow has been:
2:00pm (04:00z) - 03:00pm (05:00z) 23cm SSB/CW only
3:00pm (05:00z) - 5:00pm (07:00z) 13cm and other uWave bands
Centre activity on -.100 and QSO as required, but with come common sense, we can all hopefully achieve some great QSOs.
My 4WD is pack and ready for tomorrow... looking forward to the day (especially as its Spring WX in SE VK4)
Don't forget to post pic's here to share and build interest.

Re: 23 on 23 Plus MAD - Sat July 23rd 2016
Thanks to everyone who made an effort and participated in today's 23-on-23+MAD.
Some FB QSOs conpleted.
10GHz: VK4REX on S9++, Geoff VK4KJJ also RS59+. KJ VK4UH just 22km to my South was unworkable direct, but RS59 with the dish North.
2.4GHz: Trevor VK4AFL was full scale... the meter just didn't drop. And, the best QSO was with Andru VK4KAY with 800mW from Warwick at RS58.
3.398GHz: My GARC panel was tested, and completed with Geoff VK4KJJ.... scratchy but a QSO.

Great day. Worked -
VK4UH/P, VK4EA/P, VK4CZ/P and VK4CSD/P on 10 GHz
VK4UH/P and VK4CZ/P on 3398.1 plus one way with VK4CSD.
Also several contacts on 1296.1

Re: 23 on 23 Plus MAD - Sat July 23rd 2016
Today's highlight for me was a was a QSO with Andru VK4KAY 2.4GHz over 103.4km path obstructed by at least one Mountain range... and Andru's TXng with just 800mW.
But please excuse the background noise.... the wind blew over the 2.4GHz gridpack and tvtr soon after this (and as a result I lost my coffee)
The signal from Trevor VK4AFL, wasn't too bad either

23 on 23 Roadtrip Portable operation Saturday 23.7.16
Operation from Border Ranges NP in VK2 (QG61np)
VK4UH VK4MIL and VK4EA in team with multiple set of gear on all band from 1296 to 47GHz
VK4UH/p
10GHz VK4KJJ/p VK4REX/p VK4CZ/p
3.4GHz VK4KJJ/p VK4REX/p
5.7GHz VK4REX/p VK4WS/p
2.4GHz VK4AFL VK4REX/p VK4WS/p
1.2GHz VK4REX/p VK4AFL
Low relative humidity and massive signals on most frequencies.
Contact with Scott 4CZ/p on 10 GHz required both stations beaming NORTH, reflecting of something big, as direct signal was undetectable at either end.
The stand out QSO for me was the 3.4GHz contact with Geoff VK4KJJ/p at Clear Mountain with him running a just-modified GARC panel.
A great day and worth the 400km round trip
