Re: EMDRC Clubrooms Friday 15th July - Digital ATV Super nig
After listening to a podcast where Art W8RMC was interviewed ( one of the main ATV guys in the US) I decided I should get my ATV RX setup working. I have had all the necessary bits for a while , I just hadn't had the motivation to hook it all up. I also heard at Gippstech that there was going to be a session on ATV up on the Melbourne ATV repeater tonight, so I made the effort.
Well done to all involved, what an informative presentation that was tonight.
My RX setup consists of a Jaycar SD set top box (on sale for $19 a year or so ago). The antenna is a UHF tv Yagi (19 elements i think) that is blocked by some large gum trees in the direction of the repeater. The output from the set top box fed to a data projector which projected the image onto the wall of the shack. The image was about 2m wide and 1.5m high.... Not bad for a rushed setup. The pix from the repeater were almost 100%. I did get a few pixels in the picture from time to time, but I would have rated it at 99.99% error free copy.
Again well done to all involved
