Next Thursday evening (Thu 23rd June 2016) is the next scheduled 23-on-23 Activation Event - providing another opportunity to activate your 1,296MHz capabilities. :om:

Continuing the successful approach will see op's in SE VK4 focus attention on either the north or south paths during the two assigned time slots as detailed below.

Phone/CW
Start time: 10:00z / 8:00pm AEST / 9:00pm ADST

Stations in BNE and more southern stations beaming north
08:00pm - 08:30pm / 10:00z - 10:30z
QRG: 1,296.100MHz

Stations in BNE and more northern stations beaming south
08:30pm - 09:00pm / 10:30z - 11:00z
QRG: 1,296.100MHz

Digital
Start time: 11:00z / 9:00pm AEST
QRG: 1,296.225MHz (Mode JT65)

These events are designed to develop the level of activity on 23. Please do not hesitate to share with others who you know have capability and see if we can continue to grow the numbers of participating stations.

Activity is not limited to stations within SE VK4, everyone is very welcome to participate.

Unfortunately as it has been proven in the past, if the participating stations are unaware of your operation, there is a high likelihood that you wont be worked. Please take a moment to share advice of your participation, so that attention to 'exploiting' the path can be provided.

I'm kind of 50/50 for this one as I have a bad case of the Flu at the moment so it's all up to my health if I go portable or not.
If I do go it will be from the usual spot on top of Buderim. I had planned to take 2.4Ghz and 3.4Ghz as well for testing other stations who need a test on those 2 band but the winter field day is this weekend and they may get tested then so please let me know if those who wanted tests on the 2 other uWave band if they are still required and I will take the extra gear with me.

It was a good night for me going portable but it was a little bit on the cold side on top of Buderim.
I only made contact with 2 stations VK4AFL and VK4CZ but it was on 2 bands so it was nice to give the 2.4Ghz a bit of a run. Nothing heard from VK2MAX but will get there one day. I do have plans to make a bigger portable 23cm yagi but that will be a while off yet.
I haven't worked out where I will work the July 23 on 23 but don't really want to use the top of Buderim as running all the extra gear drains the batteries quicker and my generator is just a bit to noisy to run in a residential area so will have to look for something away from noise complaining people.

Cheers
