Friday night 20th may, Peter VK3BFG will give a talk on ATV. He will be covering the ways in which amateurs may enter the field of ATV and DATV. In particular he will demonstrate the versatile DATV Express running on an Odroid Mini Computer and also the operation of a Minituioner . He will show a QPSK signal on a Spectrum Analyser and also a Constellation display and demonstrate the effects of non-linearities in RF amplifiers as the power output is increased on both displays.

We will have a live TV transmission of the event over VK3RTV and BATC with JackVK3WWW, Damian VK3KQ and Ralph VK3LL having a multi-camera set up and direct computer feeds to a mixer driving the Club’s DATV Transmitter through to VK3RTV. Unfortunately Peter VK3BFG has come down with a bad dose of Bronchitis and will not be fit enough by Friday night.

He has held out to this point in the hope that he may see some improvement, but to no avail. Therefore he has asked that we postpone the ATV broadcast from the clubrooms scheduled for this Friday evening.

BUT.....

All is not lost, the ARISS contact is still occurring and a handful of club members will be running the live ATV feed from the local school. This broadcast will be running at the clubrooms in Burwood from 6pm on our ATV station and is being streamed live over the internet at the youtube link https://youtu.be/SVzvGHvEmsc . The contact is set to begin at around 6:35pm.

We will have the Burwood rooms open and running from 6pm to allow those interested to watch the ARISS contact live. Their will be an after show hosted by Ralph VK3LL from the school we can continue to watch from the rooms. Once this is complete, we will fire up the clubs new BBQ for its inaugural test sizzle with sausages for dinner. With the first snags expected to be ready from around 7pm.

The Friday Clubroom meeting will still occur upstairs, from 8pm, but with much less fanfare and a much smaller audience (with the missing international video feed), running through the normal business before we talk about the ARISS contact and other interesting things we are madly trying to co-ordinate.

We look forward to the ATV Super night occurring in the future when Peter has made a full recovery.
