Ham Tower installations - House debate, Missouri (podcast)

Post by VK6DVR »

Hams Lead the way on Missouri House Bill, HB1951.
"Finally, the Missouri House has passed it's version of the Amateur Radio Parity Act. It's in a Senate committee. Gary's got the audio of the House 'debate' that's kinda odd (but all's well that ends well?).
"

This results of this debate seems to bode well in Missouri, USA so far.

If this situation ever arises in AU, let's hope our local councils' avoid corruption and see sense in maintaining fairness in reasonable ham radio tower installations in the burbs.

The Missouri House debates Tower installations with HOA (Home Owners Association) and won 86 (yes) to 66 (no) in favour of preserving past covenance contracts about tower installations at dwellings, instead of voiding those contracts, which would've compromised ham operators' ability to communicate particularly in Civil Emergency situations.

Start times into the podcast:

This section starts at around 00h:46m:41s (65%) with Host Gary giving his impressions, while the guts of the House debate starts at 00h:50m:15s (66%).

PS from VK6DVR: This topic doesn't directly affect me, but I figured it could be an interesting podcast to listen to for those involved in any neighbourly disputes, to help give some perspective on how Government (US in this case) interaction can spoil existing contracts or previous approvals.
